About DH Collectibles
Who are you ?
The “DH” in our name is the initials of our inspiration. Derek Hofsten collected toys – mostly action figures – since he was a young boy. He knew all of the superheroes and their stories. He had a library for a memory. He collected almost everything you see on our website.
He was also a huge old movie buff and could name every star in every bad movie ever made. He probably set a record for the amount of times he watched Rocky, Jaws, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street and so much more.
He had an amazing Toronto Blue Jays memorabilia collection, mostly signed. He had a jersey and bat signed by everyone on the World Series winning teams. Signed to him personally – not just signed so he could sell it, but signed as a keepsake.
On September 30, 2018 at the young age of 51 years, Derek passed away from a combination of diabetes and injuries sustained in a car crash. To this day, we are still having a very difficult time. We still expect him to come walking through the front door. We still expect to hear him yelling at the Blue Jays on TV. We still expect to see bad 80’s movies playing in the living room.
But that doesn’t happen anymore.
Derek left behind a huge collection. This is why we didn’t just pack up his collections and sell it all off, or take all of it to the dump. This is his collection now, offered to people who appreciate it. Collecting, buying, selling, and trading was his passion. Prior to his passing, we had no idea who Teela, or Jitsu were, what MEGO is, what Toy Con is, or the difference between original and Classic Masters of the Universe.
But now we do. We do for Derek.
Thank-you for coming here and lending a helping hand.
